December is quickly passing! And, that only means that 2023 is getting closer. In lieu of the end of the year, we thought it would be best to write a year-end recap of all of the content on our blog. This way, you can catch up on any missed articles and soak in some of our real estate information before the new year. Over the course of 2022, we wrote a lot of articles. Everything from tips to news was covered on our blog. In this article, we will be giving you a brief recap of all of the articles we wrote this year.

At the Start of 2022…
To kick off our 2022, we wrote all about the conditions of the real estate market in Edmonton. This article goes over predictions for the 2022 real estate market, stats from December 2021, and tips for buying in 2022. Moving on to February, we discussed mortgages and rising interest rates. In this blog post, we went into detail about how real estate would be affected by interest rates and how Canadians can prepare. The chaos in the real estate market was just beginning to take shape in March. Because of this, our March article was all about market updates, interest rate news, and tips for buyers looking to purchase a home.
In April, Canada’s housing crisis came to a head. In lieu of this, our April post was about the government’s proposed pre-sale policy, the foreign buyer ban, new affordable housing developments, and news about the pressure on the Edmonton real estate market. Astronomical housing prices in provinces like British Columbia and Ontario were forcing many families to find a cheaper place to live. Because of this, many people flocked to Edmonton to find an affordable alternative. In our May article, we wrote all about this.
The beginning of 2022 was certainly chaotic in the real estate world. Rising interest rates caused all sorts of issues for homeowners, buyers and sellers. A lack of affordable housing became very prevalent early in the year. But, how did this shake out? Continue following along to see how we finished off at the end of 2022.
How We Ended the Year:
In June, things were still doom and gloom. For instance, it was in June that news surfaced about the skewed ratio between homeowners and their income. These statistics were jarring for many Canadians. However, these statistics also revealed that Edmonton was one of the more affordable places to live in Canada. Which, leads us to July. For the month of July, we discussed Edmonton’s approachable market for first-time home buyers in Edmonton. Furthermore, in August, we posted about navigating the housing market as a buyer. In this article, we talked about the differences between a buyer’s and seller’s market and how to buy a home in each respective market type. If you haven’t checked this article out, we recommend you give it a read!
As fall approached, the market finally died down and reached a more balanced condition. Since the market was cooler, we decided to take the opportunity to write about real estate investing. This article is chalked full of reasons why you should consider real estate investing. Check it out if you are planning on diversifying your portfolio in 2023.
For the month of October, we went over the process of pricing your home in Edmonton for sale. Oftentimes when sellers list their homes for sale, pricing is one of the hardest things to get right. So, we shed some light on how we come up with the price of your home. Finally, to end our 2022 content, we wrote about selling stigmatized properties in Edmonton. This niche article goes over some key information about selling a home with a stigma. For instance, what you need to disclose, how to market your home, what defines a stigmatized property, etc.
After all of the chaos 2022 threw our way, we think it’s safe to say that the end of 2022 finished on a calmer note than it started.
